When someone mentions luxury car brands, you probably picture a Mercedes-Benz, a Ferrari or a Lexus. While these vehicles are excellent, their parent companies are not from the United States. What are the luxury car brands in America? We have a handful stretching from coast to coast. This guide tells you everything you need to know about American luxury in the automobile world.

What Are a Few Luxury Car Brands in America?

Let’s start by talking about the luxury car brands in the United States of America. Here are the top seven you need to know.

Acura

The first name on this list may raise some eyebrows. Acura counts among the luxury car brands in America despite its parent company being overseas. Honda started Acura in Japan in 1986, so its 40th birthday is coming soon. Despite its Japanese origins, Acura’s headquarters are in Torrance, California — the southwest side of Los Angeles.

Acura only has four models, but each is popular for its own reasons. For example, the Acura TLX boasts 355 horsepower if you get the Type S trim. This sedan has a sleek design and gives drivers a smooth ride throughout. Acura also produces the RDX — a compact luxury SUV. These crossovers are becoming more popular nowadays, and the RDX comes through with a comfortable interior and excellent handling.

Buick

Buick is one of the oldest American luxury car brands still in existence. David Dunbar Buick founded the company in 1899 when William McKinley was still president! General Motors (GM) owns Buick in 2023, but it was Buick that established GM in 1908. In the modern era, Buick has revamped itself to be a leader in luxury cars, shedding any reputation for underperforming vehicles.

If you want a luxury SUV, Buick is the automaker for you. In fact, that’s all they make. Buick’s 2024 lineup will include the Envista, Encore and Enclave. The manufacturer used to make sedans like the Regal and the Lucerne, but they have discontinued them in favor of SUVs. GM doesn’t produce many sedans anymore in North America, with Ford and Dodge following similar strategies.

Cadillac

Most automakers have a single luxury brand, but GM boasts a second division with Cadillac. However, Cadillac hasn’t always belonged to GM. Henry Ford and some of his business partners disbanded the Henry Ford Company. The remaining investors banded together and used the assets to create what we know as Cadillac. For over a century, Cadillac has produced awesome luxury cars.

Car guys may best know Cadillac for the Escalade. It’s hard to mistake this full-size luxury SUV when you see it coming down the street. The Escalade is perfect if you have a family you want to drive around in style. The spacious interior and ventilated seats only start the luxury features of this SUV. Plus, you get a 6.2L V8 engine capable of dynamic fuel management.

Hennessey

This automaker wants you to never stop and never settle. Actually, that’s the cognac brand. Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) is a Texas-based auto manufacturer creating luxury cars and modifying vehicles from other brands. HPE says it works on brands from the GM and Ford umbrella to enhance their performance.

For its own vehicles, HPE is best known for the Venom F5 Hypercar. This bad boy looks like it came out of your Grand Theft Auto garage with its super sleek design and high speeds.

Don’t take our word for it, though. The manufacturer tells us just how amazing this car is. The Venom F5 has 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lbs-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful vehicles worldwide. While the machine is street-legal, you should keep it under the limit. You’re already paying nearly $3 million for the vehicle, so you’ll need to be conscious of your wallet.

Lincoln

As you may guess, the Lincoln Motor Company takes its name from the former American president, Abraham Lincoln. The Ford Motor Company acquired Lincoln in 1917, lasting about five years before Ford’s acquisition. Ford bought Lincoln to compete with Cadillac and has fought for luxury car brand supremacy in America since.

Like Buick and Cadillac, Lincoln only sells luxury SUVs in the United States. Its current lineup includes the Navigator, Aviator, Corsair and Nautilus. The first two will seat seven or eight people, while the latter SUVs are more compact for five people. If you like Ford, you’ll enjoy Lincoln’s superb powertrains and infotainment technology coming with the vehicles. Lincoln vehicles are popular for their quiet rides and fancy interiors.

Lucid Motors

What’s better than a luxury car with the Silicon Valley touch? Lucid Motors produces luxury electric sports cars in its Casa Grande, Arizona, manufacturing plant. Its three founders based the company headquarters in Newark, California, just north of San Jose. Being across the bay from Stanford University helps make these cars smart in addition to luxurious.

The Air is one of the company’s most popular models. This futuristic-looking car boasts over 500 miles on a single charge, making it the most powerful electric vehicles (EV) in the United States. Plus, the Air has over 1,200 horsepower under the hood! It’s no wonder why it won Motortrend’s Car of the Year award in 2022.

Tesla

Last but not least, Tesla is another one of the famous luxury car brands in America. The automaker and clean energy company started in San Carlos, California, before moving to Austin, Texas. Tesla has been integral in the EV transition, with its Roadster being one of the first fully electric cars to hit the road. Now, it’s become a bastion of electric auto manufacturing alongside its controversies.

Tesla’s most popular vehicle is the Model Y. In fact, the record shows the Model Y was the world’s best-selling car for the first quarter of 2023. What can we say? People like luxury vehicles that are electric, demonstrating a shift in consumer priorities. In fact, this record marked the first time an EV became the best-selling car

The Tesla Model Y has an EPA-estimated 330-mile range and an all-wheel drive dual motor. It’s not an off-roader, but the Model Y can maintain its composure in mud and snow with incredible traction control. Plus, with a Tesla, you get access to one of the 50,000 superchargers nationwide to charge your car fast.
