After a global pandemic turns society into a spore-ridden, post-apocalyptic wasteland, Joel is tasked with safeguarding a 14-year-old girl who may be humanity’s last hope. The Last of Us TV show has one nine-episode season. The second season is expected to drop sometime in 2025, according to some reports.

5. Castlevania

This is one of the best shows based on video games you’ll find. Trevor Belmont and his steadfast companions fight against vampires and hordes of the undead controlled by none other than Dracula. It’s a story of vengeance, companionship and regret told with a cinematic, eye-catching art style. 

The Castlevania TV show has four seasons, amounting to 32 episodes in total.

6. Castlevania: Nocturne

Set during the French Revolution, Castlevania: Nocturne picks up hundreds of years after the original series. Richter Belmont travels to France in search of vengeance but soon gets more bloodshed than he bargained for. One reviewer says it does the games — and its predecessor — justice, describing it as a “revolutionary epic” and its art style as “fluid dreaminess.”

7. Arcane: League of Legends

At its core, Arcane: League of Legends is a story of two sisters finding themselves while searching for each other. Set in the steampunk-esque world of Piltover and Zaun, you follow Vi and Jinx — two champions from the game — as their backstories unfold. It has a 100% rating and a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, if that’s any indicator of how good it is.

8. DOTA: Dragon’s Blood

This video game TV show follows one Dragon Knight as he summons the strength to use the power of a dragon to stop an even greater evil. He quickly becomes entangled in a complicated web of intrigue and action far more severe than he could’ve ever imagined.
